Metallica Title New Album “Death Magnetic”
METALLICA: New Album Title Revealed – June 14, 2008
The name of the new Metallica album has finally been revealed on the band’s official website: Death Magnetic.
The album’s title had slowly been hinted throughout last week, first simply with two magnets before additional letters began appearing. All was finally revealed Saturday, as the suddenly-tech-savvy band confirmed the title in the form of wallpapers you can put as the background of your computer. The group’s Mission Metallica site confirmed the title as well, promising their new Rick Rubin-produced album will be out in September.
METALLICA has announced the title of its new album — “Death Magnetic” — by posting the finalized/complete version (see below) of the image that originally appeared on the band’s official web site on Tuesday (June 10) under the headline “???.” The CD is due out in September.
A short video clip revealing the new album title and featuring an audio sample of a brand new song can be viewed below.
Just one day after several UK web sites posted early reviews of six new METALLICA songs that were previewed for them in London in early June, the reports were all taken down, reportedly at the request of the band’s management. METALLICA has since issued a statement blaming a management “error” for the move and has apparently asked for the reviews to be re-posted.
METALLICA performed a “secret” show Thursday night (June 12) at The Basement in Nashville, Tennessee in front of an estimated 175 people. The band played Tennessee’s Bonnaroo festival Friday (June 13) and is scheduled to perform at the one-day Ozzfest in Dallas on August 9, with a full North American tour in the works for the fall.

I havn’t got my hopes up for it, which is sad because I’m a huge fan of Metallica’s older stuff, the new stuff is good in it’s own right – but not really my thing and would prefer if it was back to the straight up balls to the wall of the early 80’s
Did you hear that 987 FM is releasing some exclusive songs and footage from Metallica? You have to hear this stuff, its great! Check it out over at http://www.987fm.com
